    Why We Quote Per Configuration

How Many Devices Do You Actually Need?

This is the number that drives your price, and it isn't your location count. With arrows, one display can serve one location or point at any of 2, 4, 6 or 8 neighbouring bins. Dense shelving of small, slow-moving SKUs often runs one device per 4–8 locations; big bins and fast movers run 1:1 or 1:2. Two warehouses with the same 400 locations can need 400 devices or 50.

    50devices
    ~1Turbo II router

A Turbo reaches ~300 devices at 75–100 ft, but we plan about one per 100 devices for speed, and place them so every device can hear at least two. Layout and density set the final count.

Start with the Starter Kit (10 devices) and add 40 more on the same cloud license — it covers up to 50.

Device count, not price, is what a quote is built from — which is why we'd rather send you two or three configurations to compare than publish a single number that's wrong for your shelving. The Starter Kit lets you settle the ratio on your own racks before buying at volume.

    One System, Every Workflow

The same hardware powers every light-directed workflow in your warehouse — and a single server license covers them all.

Benefits of Voodoo's Perpetual Server License

Most warehouse automation vendors charge monthly per-device fees that grow as you scale. Once you move to your own Voodoo server, you're done paying — the perpetual license means your total cost of ownership goes down over time, not up. For a full breakdown of what drives pick-to-light system cost, see our cost and ROI guide, or estimate savings with the pick-to-light ROI calculator. Every plan includes REST API integration support. See why wireless pick-to-light systems lower total cost of ownership versus wired alternatives.

    Voodoo Perpetual Server License

You own the hardware — no lease, no return
One-time license fee — no monthly or annual software charges
Run on your own server — cloud or on-site
No device-count caps — scale to thousands
    Expand only when you're ready
Total cost of ownership drops every month

    Typical SaaS/HaaS Model

    Monthly per-device subscription fees
    Costs increase as you scale
    Vendor lock-in through recurring contracts
    Budget unpredictability year-over-year
Total cost of ownership rises over time

    How Licensing Works

Two paths, designed to match where you are. Start on our cloud to prove the technology, then move to your own server when you're ready to scale.

    Starter Kit — Cloud License

Built for proof of concept and testing

    • • Annually renewable license to Voodoo's multi-tenant cloud server
    • • Up to 50 devices supported
    • • Plenty for any pilot, single-zone deployment, or business-case validation
    • All Starter Kit hardware carries forward into production — devices and routers move with you to your own server

    Production — Perpetual Server License

    For full-floor and multi-site rollouts

    • • One-time license to your own dedicated Voodoo server
    • • Cloud-hosted or on-premises — your choice
    • • No device-count caps, no annual renewal
    • • You own the system outright once licensed

    Pricing Questions, Answered

The things people ask before they book a call.

What does the $5,000 Starter Kit include?

Ten wireless display devices, one Turbo II router, an annually renewable license to Voodoo's multi-tenant cloud server (up to 50 devices), REST API integration support, cloud dashboard access, and onboarding. Every piece of Starter Kit hardware carries forward into production.

Why don't you publish per-device prices?

Because how many devices you need depends on how you use arrows. One display can serve a single location, or 2, 4, 6 or 8 neighbouring locations by pointing an arrow at the right bin — so two warehouses with the same number of pick locations can need very different systems. We quote per configuration, and we'll happily email you several quotes (say 1:2 and 1:4) to compare. The Starter Kit exists so you can settle the ratio on your own shelving before buying at volume.

How many devices will I need?

Divide your pick locations by the locations-per-device ratio you choose: 400 locations at one device per four locations is about 100 devices. Dense bin shelving with small, slow-moving SKUs usually runs 1:4 to 1:8; large bins and fast movers run 1:1 or 1:2. The estimator on this page does the arithmetic and hands the configuration to a quote request.

How many Turbo II routers will I need?

A single Turbo can reach up to about 300 devices at 75–100 ft, but that isn't how we size a system. We plan roughly one Turbo per 100 devices for speed and throughput, and place them so every device is within range of at least two Turbos — if one is ever offline, nothing stops. Turbos sit above the racks, about 8 feet off the floor, and Power-over-Ethernet is the preferred hookup. Your layout and how densely the devices are packed set the final count; we confirm it on a call.

    Is there a monthly fee?

There are no per-device subscriptions. The Starter Kit runs on an annually renewable cloud license that covers up to 50 devices. Production rollouts use a one-time perpetual license to your own Voodoo server, cloud-hosted or on-premises, with no device-count caps and no annual renewal.

    What happens after the pilot?

You keep everything. Add devices and routers as you expand, and when you're ready for full-floor scale, move the same hardware to a perpetual server license. Nothing gets thrown away.

Do I need a WMS integration before I can pilot?

No. Devices are driven through a small, fully documented REST API, there are ready-made connectors for Odoo, ShipStation, Extensiv, QuickBooks Online, NetSuite, Oracle WMS, Manhattan, SAP and Epicor, and for a pilot even a spreadsheet can light devices. Integration used to be the hard part; AI has changed that completely. Point an AI coding assistant at our API documentation, describe what your WMS sends and what the display should show, and it writes the connector — what was a months-long integration project is now an afternoon's work for one developer.

    How long does installation take?

Displays mount with magnets — a single technician can install dozens in a day. Turbo II routers sit above the racks, about 8 feet up, and run on Power-over-Ethernet, so one cable does power and data. There is no wiring to the displays, no conduit and no electrician.

How long do the batteries last?

Each display runs on two AAA batteries for a year or more, often years depending on activity and battery type, and the system emails you when any device runs low. Put your own pick rates and settings into the battery life calculator for an estimate. Open the battery life calculator
