Voodoo Robotics Releases Turbo II, Enabling Pick-to-Light that is 5-10 Times Faster! Special Offer through June 15, 2023

FRISCO, TX – March 21, 2023

Voodoo Robotics has improved its communications technology, enabling its Cloud Display Devices to light up 5-10 times faster. The new Turbo II is in stock and available for new and existing implementations. Because of the positive response to its upgrade promotion, Voodoo Robotics has decided to reactivate it through June 15, 2023.

With its Cloud Display Devices, Voodoo Robotics provides a wireless pick and put to light solution that leverages the Internet of Things to improve picking speed and accuracy. The Turbo communicates encrypted picking information bidirectionally between the Cloud Display Devices and the Voodoo Robotics server to direct instructions from the warehouse Inventory Management System to the pickers on the floor. Voodoo Robotics Turbos use the customer’s ethernet or WIFI connection to communicate with the Voodoo Robotics multitenant server on the Amazon Web Services Cloud or a customer-specific server installation that resides either on the customer’s network or cloud.

In-house testing of the Turbo II hardware at Voodoo Robotics lights up Cloud Display devices 5-10 times faster than the Turbo Classic and Turbo Power over Ethernet Touchscreen (PoE-T) models. Actual results will vary for specific installations, but this improvement will increase speed significantly in existing implementations and make the Voodoo Robotics solution ideal for higher velocity picking and kitting scenarios.

The Turbo IIs are in stock and ready to ship. The following offers apply until June 15, 2023:

  • Customers who purchase Turbo IIs can obtain either Turbo at the 2022 prices.
  • Customers (new or existing) who purchase a minimum of 25 Cloud Display Devices may also receive a free upgrade to Turbo II.
  • Existing customers who are under warranty or who activate a service contract may upgrade their Turbos free of charge.

Please contact Voodoo Robotics to discuss the new product and how to upgrade existing Turbos.

Voodoo Robotics Releases New Multi-button Product

CHICAGO, IL – March 20, 2023

Voodoo Robotics today announced the immediate availability of a new multi-button Cloud Display Device. Introduced this morning at ProMat in the SVT Robotics Booth N7148, the new multi-button device has the same functions as the single-button device, but adds two quantity adjustment buttons on top. This often requested feature allows workers to dynamically alter the quantity handled during pick operations.  Trevor Blumenau, CEO of Voodoo Robotics, said, “In many cases, pickers are instructed to pick more items than are available in a slot. Without interrupting their flow of activity, they can pick the quantity available and report the shortfall.”

When integrated with a Warehouse Management System (WMS), workers can dynamically modify picking or processing instructions to potentially trigger instructions from the Warehouse Management System (WMS) for slot replenishment, pick substitutions, or overflow inventory picks. This helps to maintain data integrity as well as picking speed and accuracy.

The new feature represents a significant improvement in Voodoo Robotics’ Pick-to-light offering. Blumenau said, “Outside of defined picks, if warehouse workers notice that the quantity of a product on the shelf is more or less than that defined in the WMS, they can adjust the inventory up or down and confirm the change. In this way we support inventory management by wandering around.”

The Cloud Display Device picking hardware easily integrates with existing WMS or Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP) systems, allowing distribution centers, warehouses, and 3PLs to scale operations for pick-to-light, put-to-light, pack-to-light, kitting, will-call (customer pickup), quarantine, order sortation (put walls) and other scenarios. A simple URL or REST API call causes the device to light up with up to five lines of custom text, including quantity, barcodes, QR codes, and arrows. The button LED also lights up in any of 6 colors. Static text messages enable customers to display information between picks. Each Cloud Display Device uses two AAA batteries that can last for years.

The product will be on display and available for demonstrations in the SVT Robotics booth N7148 at ProMat, March 20-23, and is available for immediate delivery.

Voodoo Robotics Customer Spotlight: Nehemiah Manufacturing Company

FRISCO, TX – August 11, 2022

Nehemiah Manufacturing Company is a for-profit-manufacturing plant that has been in business since 2009. It owns brands such as Kandoo and packages/manufactures several lines for Procter & Gamble, including Tide, Downy, Dreft, and Febreze. From its inception, Nehemiah has practiced “second chance” hiring of hard-to-hire and formerly incarcerated individuals and has provided a social support team to help employees succeed. Today, Nehemiah employs 180 to 220 individuals, of which 80 to 85 percent are second-chance hires.

“Nehemiah is a special place. It’s a company that was founded to do three things: building brands, creating jobs, and changing lives. When Nehemiah was founded, the goal was to bring light-duty manufacturing to the inner city of Cincinnati,” said Eric Wellinghoff, Chief Marketing Officer. “The mission of our company is providing job opportunities for those who need a second chance. One in six people in the United States currently has a felony on their record and we found that by giving them a second chance, we could change their lives and in turn, they would change our lives and we could change the lives of consumers.”

“I am a two-time felon who was struggling to find a job until I came across Nehemiah,” said Michael Taylor, a Cincinnati native. “As I started moving up in the company, I started to believe in myself. Fast forward nine years, I am the director of operations here in charge of about one hundred people … who report to me. I needed the helping hand when I needed it, but now that I got to this point, I got to start being the helping hand for somebody else.”

Wellinghoff said “We are focused on how we continue to organically grow the impact that we have in our community. We really want to encourage business leaders because we think business is the way to change the fabric of society. We feel called now, after 13 years of success, to create a national movement for second-chance hiring.”

Last year Nehemiah turned to Voodoo Robotics to improve warehouse picking accuracy and efficiency in its direct-to-consumer facility in Cincinnati, Ohio. It purchased 80 Voodoo Robotics Cloud Display Devices and three Turbos (routers).

“We are a small but growing pick and pack facility and we needed to move from 1980s technology to the 21st century. Voodoo Robotics let us add a strong but flexible pick to light system quickly,” said Ian Huskey, Director of eCommerce Fulfillment.

“The real key to success is flexibility compared to regular pick to light devices, which are much more rigid. The Voodoo Robotics devices are adaptable and reconfigurable as our needs change. Today we have 115 SKUs that we use with Pick-to-Light devices. It has been a giant leap forward. We currently use the devices for pick faces, but have future plans for pick-to-cart, and put-to-wall.”

Nehemiah Manufacturing contracted with Scott Jessup of Whitfield Consulting LLC to enable their SkuVault IMS and ShipWorks software to work together with Voodoo Robotics, ensuring quick and accurate order picking.

“We have seen a marked increase in our accuracy and our efficiency, as the devices have helped us optimize our workflows. We have also experienced improvements in accountability, traceability, and total operational throughput,” said Huskey.

Bridget Johnson, a warehouse picker, said “I had no experience with any pick to light system before this job.” She said she found the Voodoo Robotics “devices easy to interact with and a great way to increase my accuracy. I appreciate the instant feedback I get if I make a mistake, and knowing how to fix it without involving a supervisor.”

Nehemiah looks forward to evolving and expanding its Voodoo Robotics implementation after it moves into their new, larger warehouse facility later this year.
